Spoilers for the First Island - Un
- Once you make it to Elba, there are a few key people you should visit.
They are:
- Thomas: the artist who resides in the Northwestern-most house, his art
studio. Be sure to ask him about Niac, and agree with him that hating them
doesn't make any sense. Listen carefully to what he suggests you do. He will
eventually give you a key to his back room, where you will find some Niacian
(red) clothing.
- Sara: The poor girl who is unhappy in the church in the southeast corner
of town. Just see what she has to say, for future reference.
- Felicia: The doctor at Miracle Cures, Inc. If you ask her about her job
she'll offer you a key to get into her back room, wherein you will pick up an
additional psionic ability. Notice that in her other, unlocked, back room
there's a book of medical knowledge and a couple of useful healing herbs you
can take.
- To the South you will find the city of Niac. Don't go there until you
have the Niacian clothing, and once the Niacian guards outside the town are
close to you, put it on or they'll throttle you quite handily. Once inside
Niac, the key people to meet are:
- Clifford the Bard: remember Thomas' suggestion of who you should bring to
Elba? Well, mention Elba to Cliff and he'll be happy to come with you. You
can bring him over the surface, which easier than the tunnel below (more on
that later). Once you get him to Niac, he'll thank you. Be sure to talk to
Thomas again and he'll give you your reward.
- Eric: he's in the tavern, and not too happy about his present condition.
He'll gladly follow you if you promise to take him to Sara. However, as he's
mentioned, the guards recognize him and won't let him out of town. You'll
have to take him through the underground tunnel which connects Elba and
Niac. You can find the Niacian entrance in the Southeast corner of town. It
might well be a good idea to explore the tunnel before having Eric accompany
you, since the beasties you'll find down there will be only too happy to kill
him for you. Once in Elba, return Eric to Sara and be sure to talk to both
of them.
- Niacian Elder: remember Thomas' suggestion of trading knowledge between
the two townships? Well, get the book you got from Felicia's in Elba and
follow the Elder's instructions. A similar trick can be performed with the
Elban Elder and something you can find in Niac.
- Out on the island surface there's a fellow named Antonio on the
Southeastern edge of the island. Ask him about the craft he has mastered -
fighting - and he just may have something to teach you.
- Once you've found the Elba Niac tunnel - as mentioned above it's
accessible from the Southeast corner of Niac - you should be sure to locate
the hidden rooms. The key one is in the North half of the tunnel. The room
is on the west side of a long hallway, a ways to the North of a series of
stone pillars. Remember that all secret walls - such as the one in the old
man's hut - can be noticed because they have little notches taken out of them
on the two sides you can pass through. In this secret room you'll find a
number of useful items, plus some intriguing facts about the relationship
between Elba and Niac.
- Once you get the Quartz key - either from Sara or Thomas - you can
progress to the next island. Go down in to the North half of the Elba-Niac
tunnel. To the East, down a twisty corridor, you'll find a door that you can
open with the Quartz Key. Take that and onward to the second island, Culn.
See you there.
